Official Mentaltest Finland [HD video]

Few moths ago myself and Sara the owner of Badazz Babydoll (Peanut) packed our bags and took a boat across the Baltic Sea and over to Finland – our mission: The Luonnetesti (LT) or mentaltest as it translates to. We don’t have good mentaltests here in Sweden anymore and the one we have doesn’t allow amstaffs anyways. The Finns know how to test a dog properly, what they call mentaltest over here in Sweden (the Korning) is nothing but a silly game any lame dog can pass nowadays. Something the LT is not.

We saw at least two dogs break down and not being able to continue the test during the day both in the very beginning of the test so it is much more challenging mentally on the dogs than one might realize simply watching it on film or even on location.

Entered to the test was also “Mortti” Badazz Bossanova, full sibling to Peanut, who moved to Finland as a baby. Both pups did great and handled every part of the test from beginning to the very end. I am very pleased with our trip and very satisfied with how the test was excecuted and the dogs capacity in dealing with what was thrown at them.

The test scores from 0-300, he general idea is that the higher score the better but we have to keep in mind these tests are based on the general idea and perception of the ideal working dog and not based on individual breed standards. Mortti for example showed great fighting power and aggression/protection as well as high sharpness of which the first two might be very highly valued within this breed but in the test he lost a lot of points there. Best individual score is +3, and the worst -3. For me very high fighting power should be +3 and not +1 as it is now for him. The scores tell one story but the actual footage tells another.

Peanut was more balanced and not as high in these more sensitive areas which ultimately gave her a higher score, which she most certainly deserves, she did great and she is truly remarkable.

If fact several people approached me (they knew I am her breeder) after Peanut was done going on and on about how impressed they were about her and wow they had never seen such great amstaff before. It was great to hear and felt really nice to know others than myself and Sara saw her in this light.

Here are videos of both dogs from the test, the part with the writing in Swedish explains that the dog was taken into a room that is completely dark for a contact test and that it for apparent reasons did not make it on film.

Final scores for both dogs (both approved):
Badazz Babydoll +213p
Badazz Bossanova +93p
